cobra (Naja kaouthia) is a species of highly venomous snake.
In addition to China, India, Vietnam, Nepal, and Cambodia, these lethal snakes can also be found in
Malaysia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand.
The monocled cobra is a flexible species of snake that can survive at heights of up to 3,300 feet in a wide
range of habitats, including both natural and human-modified situations (1,000 m).
The majority of snakes in the world lay eggs. The family Elapidae, which also includes the black mamba
and adders, including cobras as a species of snake.
There are two ways that snakes give birth to their young. Oviparous snakes are those that give birth
primarily by laying eggs. On the other hand, there are a few snake species that give birth to live young,
feeding them through the placenta or yolk sac as they develop. A few snake species also allow the
females to develop the eggs inside their bodies before giving birth to live young snakes. Ovoviviparous
snakes are those that give birth in this manner. Viviparous snakes are the name for these reptiles.

Unusually, the sea snake species Laticauda is known to lay its eggs on land. The snake species known as
cobras and king cobras are not exactly the same. Despite being classified under two different genera,
they are both members of the Elapidae family. King cobras get their name because they eat other
cobras.
Their extremely lethal venom is among the world’s fastest-acting snake venoms and can result in death
within an hour of envenomation.
